Fish in Lithuania – what and when to fish. Prevalent fish species that are common in Lithuania regions: bream, perch, pike, roach, vimba, etc (see below). In spring, fishermen go for the Baltic herring in the Klaipeda Channel. In summer we like to fish in the lakes trolling & spinning for pikes, perches or going more slow type of fishing using feeders for breams. Night fishing for catfish in Nemunas river is also among our favorite type of fishing. Autumn is a time for big pikes, so we try to use this time going for big ones. Ice-fishing is very unique and especially popular in winter time. This is the best way to catch burbot, smelt and spend unforgettable time in Curonian spit region. Fishermen from boats in the Baltic Sea catch plaice, Baltic herring, Baltic cod, turbot and salmon.
